Congratulations Pinky. You are an example of how our volunteers are the backbone of our club!

Pinky was nominated by a large amount of people for this award, which emphasises how much she is loved within our community and that her efforts for the club over decades has not gone unnoticed.

Examples of what nominators said of Pinky:

"Pinky has been canteen manager for decades at our club. She retired from it many years ago but when the canteen manager who took over from her could no longer do it, Pinky took the role back on as no one else put their hand up to volunteer. Pinky works tirelessly to ensure the canteen runs smoothly, which means she is in the canteen all day during every home game, missing out on watching her own children play and spending time with her grandchildren at the game. She has been a champion of ensuring the canteen offers mostly healthy food options and does not offer unhealthy foods such as hot chips etc. In an era where volunteers are very hard to come by in country footy/netball clubs, Pinky is an example of a selfless, passionate, loyal and community minded volunteer. We adore her."

"Karen is a dedicated volunteer who has devoted so much of her time to our canteen. She is a great organiser who gets everyone on board with her cheerful, encouraging leadership. I’m not sure how many years she’s been involved, but it has been for a very long time. She’s a life member and legend of our club… she certainly qualifies as a canteen hero."

"Karen “Pinky” Griffin has been organising the canteen for many years, Often at the club on Thursday nights restocking things as well as Saturdays from 8:30am until 6pm. A legend of our club who knows everyone and has a smile and greeting for young and old."

"Maybe the only thing our canteen hero, Karen ‘Pinky’ Griffin isn’t great at, is technology. So when she had to take one week off this year I typed up her job list to ensure the day ran smoothly. And WHAT. A. LIST! Give this woman a medal."
